Special Weapons and Tactics, or SWAT, teams have been deployed to resolve high-risk situations including hostage takings, bomb threats, barricaded suspects, and more. Citizens are advised to exercise extreme caution when traveling through the city or to remain indoors.
While Los Sueños is still seen as a city of wealth, for many, the quality of life is declining. "The city is sprawling with cramped apartments and decaying tract housing, which the criminal underworld exploits like a parasite," says Police Chief Galo Álvarez.
